A 12HR CHALLENGE (WITH SOME SLEEP IN BETWEEN)

Not everyone wants to run through the night, we get it. The Weekender challenge starts on Saturday afternoon and breaks after 6hrs, before starting again on Sunday morning for another 6hrs. This is still a big challenge, but with a night’s sleep to help aid recovery.

See how far you can travel over two days (with some sleep in between), surrounded by like-minded people who are all trying to put the sore legs and tiredness to the back of their mind, whilst running in a beautiful setting for a truly unique running experience.

Race format

How far can you and your friends run at Luna Trail Relay in 12 hours split across Saturday and Sunday?

This is an event with no official route. There are four loops to choose from of varying distance and it is up to you whether you run all of them or stick to one you like.

Which loops do you take on? How much of the Luna Trail Relay route can you complete? How many people will be in your team? How far can you go?

At Luna Relay these decisions are yours as you plan how you want to take on the challenge of The Weekender

Race loops
and team sizes

Our provisional route map has four loops that take in grassland meadows, dense woodland trails, across single tracks and definitely up and down hills. But you won't give a second's thought about terrain or difficulty because the scenery will be stunning.

Four loops have been designed to offer different levels of running and coloured to highlight the difficulty. Doing all four will be a real challenge, EVEN if it is split across two days with some sleep. This is the ultimate all-weekend, team experience!

Your strategy or experience will also depend on your team size. If you are a team of two, taking on the challenge will mean something different to you and your achievement or goal will likely be different from those in a team of 6.

Team
performances

How well you do at Luna Relay can be measured by how much fun you’ve had, how many new friends you’ve made and possibly overcoming some of the challenges thrown at you by taking part in a 24 hour relay.

However, we want to give you and your team a target to shoot at. We will be awarding Gold, Silver and Bronze medals based on how far your team covers. All participants will receive an event T-shirt as part of their entry.

Ultimately the memories you create are the most important part of Luna Trail Relay!

Solo Pair 3-5 6-8 9-10
Gold 65 80 100 105 110
Silver 20 40 60 75 85
Bronze 8 16 30 55 70

*All distances are in miles and are a guide to how medals will be awarded

Event village
and Camping

The Event Village is the hub of Luna Trail Relay. The start and finish of each loop where runners changeover, will also be positioned within the Event Village.

Here you can enjoy good food, great coffee (essential), some retail therapy and opportunities for R&R. Most importantly, this is where your team's strategy can be devised, runners will refuel and recover, and where the team spirit and camaraderie is created.

All runners and teams are invited to camp as part of the Luna Trail Relay experience. The Campsite will be located next to the Event Village. Entry fees will include one night of camping for all runners. Extra nights and glamping opportunities will be available, as will space for campers and caravans. Friends and family are welcome at Luna Relay, and spectator camping spots will be available. (We won't be allowing dogs at Luna on account of wild animals, such as deer that live on the event site.)

Make a weekend of it with friends and family at Luna, for an unforgettable weekend of running and escapism in beautiful countryside.
